About Us
OUR PURPOSE
The St. Louis Eclipse 2017 Task Force was formed late in 2014 to help the St. Louis regional area get ready for the August 21, 2017 eclipse. The task force consists of a collaboration of St. Louis area organizations that include amateur astronomy societies, civic and educational institutions and local businesses. All of our task force members are unpaid volunteers.
Our task force goals are three-fold:
- Inspire the St. Louis community about the August 21, 2017 eclipse. We are excited about this unique opportunity brought to us by nature and we think you should be too!
- Educate the St. Louis community about the unique science, economic and personal viewing opportunities related to the eclipse.
- Connect local entities to the significant number of eclipse related resources that are becoming available. Our connection with a number of local and national resources puts us in a unique position to help our local community.
Notably, our goals do not include arranging specific eclipse viewing events for individuals or organizations. Many of our task force members are astronomer enthusiasts who will be taking advantage of this once-in-a-life time experience for personal eclipse viewing.
We encourage your organization to Contact us with your questions and suggestions on how we can help you or help others get ready for this unique experience.
